With the meteoric rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its increasingly predominant use in fields as diverse as finance and art, a steadily increasing number of students and teachers use it worldwide. Although adoption of this new technology has been surpassed perhaps only by the embrace of social media a decade ago, many educators have been reluctant to use it because of a number of reasons, chiefly fear of the new and a limited understanding of how to safely, efficiently and productively integrate AI tools within teaching and learning.
In this workshop, the presenter will review challenges and opportunities around generative AI, as they concern educators. Participants will discover ways to power up their teaching skills by becoming AI-ready. Key elements in the learning process, such as lesson and materials design, assessment, and feedback will be explored from the perspective of an AI-assisted refresh. Teachers and students will benefit from a hands-on approach to seeing generative-AI in action. They will have the opportunity to develop their own AI toolkit, including skills in prompt engineering for AI chatbots, tips & tricks for harnessing the potential of generative AI, and a scientific approach to using and learning from this new technology.
